The new BM3 Banksman R23 light is the first manoeuvring light to be launched
in Europe enabling OEMs, Operators and Fleets to meet Regulation 48
directives for lights installed pre-vehicle registration.

What is REG 23?
Reg 23 defines the specification of Reversing & Manoeuvring lamps. Key points
for REG 23 compliance are:
• Colour of light MUST be White.
• The intensity of the light must not exceed 500cd (candela).
• The light must not have an intensity of more than 0.5cd in the field of view
where light must not be seen.

WHAT IS BANKSMAN LIGHTING

The Banksman is a manoeuvring aid that delivers additional bright white light to
the sides of any vehicle where traditional reversing lights cannot cover.
LEDs are fitted around the chassis to direct pure bright light downwards and
away from the vehicle, illuminating the area around and creating a safer working
environment.
The Banksman helps to reduce accidents and collisions incurred when
manoeuvring, thereby reducing repair costs and insurance premiums.
By significantly improving driver visibility, it helps:

What is REG 48?

Reg 48 defines how and where these lamps must be installed on a vehicle. Key
points for REG 48 compliance are:
• They have to be activated by one of three conditiond, the simplest one being
the vehicle being put into reverse gear.
• They must switch o” above 10km/h (6.4mph) in forward motion.
• The illuminated part of the lamp must not be seen on a plane 10m away from
the vehicle.
